CHAPTER 13 Jesus, the name of all names and effects of this name. Mystery of the Incarnation of God in Jesus.
[1] You ask: How will we elicit fire from our hearts so that we may kindle this wood? O, brothers and friends! What a question from you! Is not a single thought of Jesus sufficient to make the heart burst out in flames for Him? O, brothers and friends! If you could comprehend what this Name of all names says, what effect it has in it, you should instantly pass into such a powerful love for Jesus, and this fire would be sufficient to ignite a whole army of suns, making them burn a thousand times brighter in their endlessly wide space regions, than is presently the case. [2] I say to you, Jesus' greatness is so tremendous that, when His Name is spoken, the whole of infinity trembles with great reverence. If you say: God, you also call the very highest being; but you call it in its infinity, it is fulfilling the infinite universe and works with His infinite power from eternity to eternity. But in the name of Jesus, you designate the perfect, powerful, essential center of God, or even more clearly: [3] Jesus is the true, most authentic, essential God as man, from whom all divinity, which fulfills infinity, emerges as the Spirit of His infinite power, might, and form like rays from the sun. - Jesus is, therefore, the sum total of the Divinity, or: In Jesus, the Divinity dwells truly physically in its most infinite abundance; and therefore the whole Divine infinity is always animated when this infinitely most sublime Name is spoken! [4] And this is, at the same time, the infinite grace of the Lord, that it has pleased Him to accept the grain kernel of mankind. But why did He do this? Listen, I will reveal to you a little secret! [5] Before the Lord's incarnation, a man could never speak to the true nature of God. No one could ever see it without completely losing life, as Moses says, "no one can see God and live at the same time!" The Lord in the primordial Church, as well as in the Church of Melchizedek, to whom Abraham himself was acquainted, was often seen in person, and has spoken with His saints and taught His children Himself. But this personal master was in fact not the Lord Himself but at all times only an angelic spirit filled with the Spirit of God for this purpose. [6] From such an angelic spirit, the Spirit of the Lord then spoke, as if the Lord Himself spoke directly. But, in such an angelic spirit, the fullest perfection of the Spirit of God was never present, but only to the extent necessary for the immediate purpose.

"Here you have a word which is often thoughtlessly uttered, but the meaning of which no living being has ever grasped in its profundity. And so I will again let you have a glimpse into My universe, a glimpse into My great creation and a glimpse into My own self. Thereby you may realize what all your sciences, all your profound thinkers, all the philosophers have never discovered, what, however, a dependent child on the guide-rope of love can easily understand. Namely this, that love was the primary factor of all that was created, and that love will always remain the sustainer and perfector of all living beings! If I am to explain to you this word “infinity”, you must discard a great many studied concepts. And, far beyond all scientific thinking, you must try to fathom the concept of this word, not in a human manner, according to earthy rational laws, but in accordance with your divine spark, as spirits and not according to finite thinking. Otherwise no seemingly finite being such as you are can ever understand the infinite God and His infinite creation. So let us begin with the word and its definition, as usual proceeding step by step. Then, beginning with a conceivable concept, one can proceed to the surmise and awareness of the Eternal, Infinite. What do you call “infinite”? “Infinity” simply refers to a thing of a condition without an end. 14 July 1876
"I have been telling you many a thing concerning life, have shown it to you in various phases, how it manifests and what it actually is. However, there is always something left to be said about it, namely, that this life, as a seeming efflux of a spiritual potency, is actually nothing else but the power of My will, which manifests in millions of different ways. In order to introduce you to this spiritual life and point out to you even more clearly the difference between spirit and matter, this word entitled “Cosmic Life” shall elucidate for you more fully the spiritual life generally and also individually. In other words, that it is always the same principle, the same motive, which, beginning with the smallest ether atom and ending with the highest angel spirit, is only My divine Being. Manifesting on various levels and in various forms, struggling for development and perfection, it inspires and implies the spiritual progress and visibly manifests in everything as life. When I say “cosmic life”, I take the concept in the way this word, derived from classical Greek, denotes it, namely, as a “universal life comprising the whole universe. For all that exists must be based on an idea, why it was created, what its purpose was and what its ultimate destiny will be. In conformity with your scientific research and its regular investigations, also your scientists endeavor to trace back everything down to the bottom, to the ultimate and simplest original forces moving everything and leading it to its conclusion. The actual period of creation and the Great Cosmic Man (exc. NR)
"[2] Only this period of creation is destined, on a small world like this earth, to have Me in My eternal, primordially divine Being - for all the preceding creations as well as for all those forever following - incarnated in a finite for and to be taught by Me personally. [3] My aim was not only to create for all future times and eternities for Myself children fully resembling Me, but to truly educate them through My fatherly love, so hat they would then be, together with Me, rulers of the whole infinity. [4] To this end I, the everlasting, eternal God, have clothed the primordial center of My divine Being in the flesh so that I could show Myself to you, My children, as a visible and tangible Father and teach you through My own mouth the true divine love wisdom and power." (GGJ IV, 255) (29 July 1870)
"Since all that I do always happens in accordance with one and the same fundamental principle, as a creational act is destined to produce something expedient and according to these fundamental principles has to develop everything in successive stages, perfect it and lead it back to Me, there exists also in this respect the most intimate connection between the earlier two sections and this one, where I shall again show you what first in the four periods of human life was demonstrated and then repeated in the four seasons or the developmental and maturing epochs. Here this was achieved only on a larger scale and in the course of eons upon eons of time, before the aforementioned stages could become effective. I began with the other sections because they, being more closely connected with you, could be better grasped by you so that you might then more easily enter into this third problem and thus manage it better. As you have seen in childhood how the spiritual-mental life one day develops into great things and how in winter under the blanket of snow all that lives and vegetates waits for its deliverance, thus also in the endlessness of space everything was once intermingled, mixed and in a dormant state waiting for My mighty Word to waken it from its sleep into activity. It was My ideas and thoughts of creation which, proceeding from the simplest, endowed every thing however simple with a reproductive capacity which gave the first impetus to the infinite ether-mass where up until then everything had been dwelling together in peace, without a desire to attract or repel one another; and when My will added the first impulse for it there began the coming-into-being, the joining of like and like, and the repelling of the dissimilar. "12.3 To give you a good picture, let us look at two large objects, namely, a big (cosmic) man called the world, and another huge man called heaven.
12.4 Regarding the first man, in a material sense, entire shell globes, full of suns and worlds, do not make up a nerve module of his, and this man, who in his largeness, sees himself as completely ‘one’ life, just as you see yourselves as just one life, - but does he really consist of just one life? 12.5 To understand that this great cosmic man lives a manifold life, you need only to see a swarm of flies, and they will tell you with their humility that even they, as the first animals, present for themselves a complex life. How much more must man for himself recognize this, and still more an entire world full of people and countless other living beings, and still by far more the sun with its completed beings, and still much more a central sun with its most complete and almighty spirits, and finally a self-contained shell globe. |
