"God is a spirit, and those who pray to Him must pray to Him in the spirit and in truth. This needs neither mountain nor temple, but merely a heart that is as pure as possible, full of love and humility." (GGJ I 24, 13-14)
"[03_036,03] It is certainly true that man should worship God, his creator, without ceasing, since God is holy and worthy of all worship; but God in Himself is a spirit and can therefore only be worshiped in the spirit and in truth.
[03_036,04] What does that mean, to pray to God in the spirit and in truth? – You see, it means this – believe in one true God, love Him with all your power above all things and keep His dear commandments.
[03_036,05] Whoever does that, prays firstly without ceasing and secondly he prays to God in the spirit and in all truth; for without deeds every prayer is an utter lie which does not honor God as the eternal truth, instead dishonors Him!
[03_036,06] So stand up as free people, as My brothers, as My friends, do not further perform any idolatry before Me and do not betray Me before the correct time; for that would hurt the world more than it would do good!”(GGJ III, 36:04)
"When you pray, do not pray like the pagans and the Pharisees with your lips, using words formed by the tongue of flesh, but pray, as I have told you, in the spirit and in truth, with life-filled works and acts of love for your neighbor, then every word spoken in My name will be in truth a prayer and I shall always hear it, the sighs from your lips, however, I shall never hear." (GGJ III 209, 4)
